Bernie or Bust 2.0 is grassroots leverage

Arm and handle are pledges. Block is majority that needs moving. Little rock was Green Party last time.

Candidate X or Bust is a grassroots demand on a political party by voters. The theory of this strategy is called electoral leverage. The reasoning is as follows: if the Democrats do not nominate the leveraged candidate, we the people will not vote Blue in the general election.  Therefore, if the Democrats want to defeat the Republican candidate for the White House, they will have to support the leverage candidate. Electoral leverage can be used to support a particular candidate, a particular issue (such as climate preservation) or a particular ideology. (To understand leverage, and–more important–help other Democrats understand electoral leverage, click on our book cover to the right and share it with a Party member.) The leverage itself derives from many citizens pledging their vote for 1) a candidate, 2) a specific (set of) policy position(s) or 3) an ideological orientation. Without an electoral movement, there can be no leverage.

In the 2016 Democratic Party primaries, progressive or bust was easy to express and advocate because there was only one progressive candidate in the contest for the nomination: Senator Bernie Sanders. Bernie or Bust remains in 2020 as the practice of the electoral leverage theory. In the 2020 election cycle, it’s more complicated because there are at least two progressives competing for the nomination: Senator Sanders (I-VT), Representative Gabbard (D-HI) as well as other candidates. Therefore, Bernie or Bust 2.0 has a Plan B. If Bernie does not end up the nominee of the Democratic Party for any reason, then Representative Tulsi Gabbard must be on the ticket as the Veep candidate. Bernie or Bust 2.0 derives from practical radicalism. It remains a demand for one of two progressives candidates this time, to be on the Democratic Party ticket: Sanders as nominee or Gabbard as selected Veep candidate. Either will suffice to unite the Blue against the Orange Fascist in November of 2020. A neo-liberal, Democratic Party ticket will get Trump re-elected. #WePledgedSo

Bernie or Bust 2.0 rejects the Wall Street-backed neo-liberals who are reshaping the government to benefit large, American corporations instead of the people. (For more on neo-liberalism, again acquire our book by clicking on the cover to the right. In 2016, there was no book anywhere about electoral leverage.) Bernie or Bust 2.0 remains a war on neo-liberals, and pledged voters are the “army” in this “war.” Bernie or Bust 2.0 is a demand for progress and climate preservation. If the Democrats end up nominating someone like VP Biden and Tulsi Gabbard is not on the ticket as the Veep candidate, then Bernie or Bust 2.0 pledge-takers will vote for the progressive candidate for the White House of their choice.  Media, take note: “Or Bust” does NOT mean voting for President Trump, Inc, the Libertarian candidate or staying home.

Two-part Pledge: Please join the tens of thousands of citizens to date by employing BOTH of these two, simple steps. (If you do not know your congressional district number, use your zip code to find it here.)

1) Take the voter pledge (click HERE) and then help out on social media by using #WePledgedSo. “If Bernie doesn’t defeat Biden, Trump will. #WePledgedSo” or #BernieOrBust2020 #WePledgedSo) and vitally important, this will NOT become influential enough unless you also, please

Power of two

2) Build the buzz: Commit yourself to quickly finding at least just two more people to take the Bernie or Bust 2.0 pledge. Please prioritize and use your email to ask people you know, friends, neighbors, relatives (but no one from work), etc. to take the Bernie or Bust pledge before OR while asking friends, followers and allies in social media and follow up until you know two people have taken the pledge. If every pledge-signer recruits just two more citizens who recruit two more every day, we’ll have over 1,000,000 pledge-takers in less than a month. The chart to the right shows how quickly a leverage strategy can become a movement even the corporate media will have a hard time ignoring. (They will not cover this as a story in order to keep voters from finding out about this voter pledge strategy. This works by getting Sanders nominated through this recruitment process. People will say no, they won’t take the pledge; but then need to hear more and more people asking them, “Will you help Sanders by taking the BernieOrBust 2.0 pledge?” That communication is how this strategy circumvents corporate media. We are demanding people give progressives a chance to run the government once again. The market/corporate neo-liberals, the conservatives and the libertarians do not have a governing philosophy compatible with climate preservation. The nation, the world needs an all out mobilization for survival to slow, stop and reverse the mass extinction under way, and only progressive politicians have the governing philosophy to use government to solve problems.

Neo-liberalism is the disease. Progressive governance is the cure, and Donald Trump’s election is a symptom. #BernieOrBust is a revolutionary strategy that will either transform Democratic Party into a party of the people or help destroy the Party whose last leader attempted to fundamentally transform the United States into a order of corporate self-government through the use of a so-called “free-trade” agreement called the Trans-Pacific Partnership. (Neo-liberalism is deconstructed in Bernie or Bust: Pioneers of Electoral Revolt.) This website is where a #WarOnNeoliberals is conducted using electoral leverage we call #BernieOrBust2020. Any Blue will not do! #SheepNoMore

What about the Green Revolution? Bernie Or Bust 2.0 is an approach to advance a green revolution.  Progressives like Bernie and Tulsi are more likely to use the government to slow, stop and eventually reverse global warming. This strategy cannot be confused with a cult of personality or a celebrity fixation. Bernie or Bust 2.0 is comprised of the “adults in the room” putting their foot down to get someone, who is not beholden to corporate cash, elected to the White House.
